"Great hotel. The room and bathroom were clean. Go for it; this is a fantastic family place.2019-08-26"
"The hotel room was clean and spacious, and we didn't hear any traffic noise. The staff was excellent. I had a medical emergency during our stay, and the clerk called 911 and stayed with my wife until the ambulance arrived. She went the extra mile and even called my wife at the hospital to check on us. She showed genuine care and concern and helped us through a difficult situation. Great place.2017-12-31"
"The entire hotel reeked of fresh paint, but the room was clean and comfortable.2016-02-23"
"Nice-looking hotel at first, but then we got to the 3rd floor and noticed that the floor felt spongy and wasn't level. Our room key didn't work, so we had to go back to the front desk to get a working key. There was a dirty spot on the bedskirt, and hair on the fridge and comforter. We even saw silverfish crawling on the walls. We were not pleased.2015-06-21"

"An excellent hotel.2017-12-05"
"Great location and excellent accommodations. When we arrived at the hotel, the only king room available was a handicap room, which we didn't want. We were upgraded to a king suite, which couldn't have made us happier.2015-10-19"

"Great rates. I had a good stay, but I wish the hotel lobby renovation had been finished. The ice machine by my room was broken, so I had to walk downstairs to get ice.2016-03-17"
"I had to change rooms twice. The heater smelled like burned rubber in the 1st room. The 2nd room had a heater that blew cold air. The 3rd room had toilet issues. The hotel staff was helpful and tried to get us a warm room.2016-02-22"
"Convenient to I-20. Rates were fair for a standard hotel. The breakfast was just OK. Adequate for an overnight stay.2015-05-26"
Aiken was founded in 1835. It has a rich history as the "Winter Colony"
attracting many wealthy equestrian sport enthusiasts to escape the cold northeast
and winter in Aiken's moderate climate. Many of the lavish homes built during
this period still exist and are a popular attraction for visitors.
This early influence has shaped Aiken into South Carolina's "Thoroughbred
Country". The historic downtown area also retains the charm developed during this
bygone era. Many of Aiken's best restaurants can be found downtown.
Aiken's lodging ranges from budget motels to upscale hotels that provide travelers
plenty of rooms from which to choose. There are ample things to see and do while
visiting, many of them free like strolling through Hopelands Gardens and hiking
in Hitchcock Woods. A short list of popular events include:
The "Aiken Trials" held annually in March feature thoroughbred racing as the first leg of Aiken's Triple Crown followed on consecutive weekends by steeplechase and polo.
The "Aiken Bluegrass Festival", "Southern Steel Guitar Convention" and "Wagons to Wagener Festival" in May or late spring.
"Aiken Music Festival" and "Storks & Corks" in June and August.
"Aiken's Makin'" in September features handcrafted arts and crafts along with food and live entertainment.
Finally, be sure to check out "Christmas In Hopelands" with its alluring Christmas lights arranged throughout the gardens in December.
