"We were on the 8th floor, and the elevator was out of service our entire stay. The hotel clerk didn't offer a discount.2020-01-08"
"The hotel was clean, comfortable, and close to Madison Square Garden. On the down side, it was pricey.2017-09-11"
"Walk to stores, eateries, and Times Square. The hotel room was nice, but very small. Breakfast smelled good, but it was so crowded that we went out.2015-05-27"
"A fantastic hotel. The room was much more spacious than is typical for NYC. Ample bath and great amenities. Wonderful staff and bar and restaurant. I'd definitely stay here again.2017-08-16"
"The hotel was centrally located and close to good restaurants, activities, and the subway. There was a Whole Foods just around the corner, and a Trader Joe's a few blocks away. I walked everywhere. The customer service was really good, but the elevators were dirty.2020-09-29"
"We were satisfied with the service. I recommend this hotel.2018-06-11"
"This is a no-frills hotel. The room was small but clean, and the shower had good water pressure. The employees were helpful and friendly. Not a fantastic location, but there were restaurants within walking distance.2016-02-20"
"We had to change rooms 3 times, and the rooms weren't ready until 5 PM. The fridge was off, and it was dirty. Not enough towels provided. The staff was rude and unhelpful. Don't stay at this hotel.2022-09-05"
"My stay was terrible. The hotel was dirty and run-down. There was no water for a full day, and when the water came back on, there was a leak in the ceiling that got our beds and clothing wet. Many of the employees didn't speak English well, so it was a struggle to communicate. Don't stay here.2019-10-07"
"Loved the location. The hotel room was clean and spacious and had 2 bathrooms. The TV didn't work, but it wasn't a big deal since we were busy. The employees were helpful. We were glad we stayed here.2018-01-28"
"The hotel room was small but fine. There were restaurants nearby on 9th Avenue. Not happy about the surprise "facilities" fee.2017-04-13"
"Good location and reasonably priced. A beautiful old hotel, and the front desk clerk was personable. But then we got stuck in the elevator; it went up and down, but the door wouldn't open until we pushed the "Door Open" button repeatedly. If you're willing to give up room size, modern amenities, and quiet nights, this might be the place for you.2015-07-25"
"Great location. Hotel was quaint but clean. Room needed updating, but the big bathtub was wonderful. Staff was friendly and helpful. Didn't like the amenities fee I had to pay, even though I didn't use the amenities.2015-03-12"
"Nice hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was accommodating and helpful. Use valet parking or be prepared to walk 3 blocks to park.2018-11-21"
"I was satisfied with our stay. The room was immaculate. The hotel staff was amazing, and the check-in clerk went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. The hot breakfast buffet was delicious and had many choices. Stay here.2023-07-09"
"We were pleased with our stay. The service was fantastic, and the hotel clerk even texted us to make sure everything was fine with our room.2018-04-11"
"Clean room and great hotel staff. I'd stay here again.2017-10-18"
"We could hear everything going on in the room next door. When we complained to the hotel clerk at checkout, he gave us 2 complimentary bottles of water. That was an insult.2015-11-13"
"The location was perfect. We've stayed here numerous times, but our king suite was much larger than we expected. Valet parking was $70 for oversized vehicles.2019-08-27"
"Our hotel room on the 6th floor was clean, quiet, secure, and comfortable. Awesome customer service. Leave your car parked and go into the city.2016-04-05"
"Less than 2 blocks from Penn Station. The room was small but well-appointed, and had everything I needed. Lovely tile work in the lobby. Most importantly, this hotel was quiet. Pack light, there's not much room for multiple suitcases.2015-07-25"

How Do We Define Motel?
To us, motels are smaller lodgings that have rooms you can enter directly from the parking area.
At hotels, on the other hand, you can enter your room only through a hall inside the building.
Hotel Booking Tips
Beware of non-refundable reservations that could cost you a lot of money if you change or cancel them. +Non-refundable reservations are a gamble that will usually save you less than $10. If you make a $90 non-refundable reservation instead of a $100 refundable booking, you are betting $90 to win $10. Would you do that in Las Vegas? -
Don't assume you can cancel a non-refundable reservation without penalty if you notify the hotel weeks or even months in advance. +Often you cannot because some hotels' profit strategy is to get paid more than once for the same room for the same night. -
Always read cancellation policies carefully before you make a reservation. + When is the latest date and time you can cancel without penalty? - More >
When you make a reservation, you will receive a confirmation email. Take a copy with you to the hotel.
The earlier in the afternoon you check into a hotel, the more likely you will get a room or suite that matches your preferences.
