"I didn't get a smoking room as requested, and though the hotel clerk gave me a room by an exit, I didn't feel safe and my room smelled like stale smoke; I had to write a note telling the housekeeper I hadn't smoked in the room. The hotel had poor soundproofing, and the plumbing was noisy. The room was dark, shabby, and outdated, and the furniture was damaged. The laminate flooring was dirty. I saw cobwebs and a carpenter ant, and all the linens and towels were discolored. The blanket on the bed was dirty, my cell phone reception was poor, and the Internet went out. The toilet almost ran over every time it was flushed. The vending machines were broken. The high curbs made the luggage carts useless. Don't stay here.2020-06-22"
"The hotel was reasonably priced, quiet, and pet friendly. The room was clean and had a comfortable bed. Great breakfast. There was a good Italian restaurant just up the street, and McDonald's was right across the street.2019-09-01"
"The hotel was clean, and everything in the room worked well. Pleasant employees. Nice breakfast with good food. I recommend staying here.2017-10-10"
"The motel room reeked, and the carpet was still wet from being cleaned. The bathroom was dirty and only 1 set of towels was provided. We complained and were moved to another room, meaning it took twice as long to get settled. Cross this one off your list.2017-10-14"
"The hotel room was nice and clean, and the front desk clerks provided good service. Decent breakfast.2016-12-30"

How Do We Define Motel?
To us, motels are smaller lodgings that have rooms you can enter directly from the parking area.
At hotels, on the other hand, you can enter your room only through a hall inside the building.
Hotel Booking Tips
Beware of non-refundable reservations that could cost you a lot of money if you change or cancel them. +Non-refundable reservations are a gamble that will usually save you less than $10. If you make a $90 non-refundable reservation instead of a $100 refundable booking, you are betting $90 to win $10. Would you do that in Las Vegas? -
Don't assume you can cancel a non-refundable reservation without penalty if you notify the hotel weeks or even months in advance. +Often you cannot because some hotels' profit strategy is to get paid more than once for the same room for the same night. -
Always read cancellation policies carefully before you make a reservation. + When is the latest date and time you can cancel without penalty? - More >
When you make a reservation, you will receive a confirmation email. Take a copy with you to the hotel.
The earlier in the afternoon you check into a hotel, the more likely you will get a room or suite that matches your preferences.
