Careful, precise person needed to help with a variety of work. Duties include:
- Developing new web pages and reworking old pages
- Using mapping software to find coordinates for hotels and placing hotels on correct pages
- Calling hotels to gather information on services and amenities
- Updating hotel listings
- Maintaining spreadsheets and generating reports
- Working with hotels and other HotelGuides team members to solve a variety of problems
- Repairing broken links

Who We Want:
We are looking for someone who is ridiculously precise and ridiculously organized. The ideal candidate thinks logically, writes well, and requires little day-to-day supervision. We will provide training, but you must enjoy technology and be comfortable using computers.
You will need to be able to:
- Keep a lot of loose ends in your mind at once
- Make changes to the website without making mistakes
- Test your changes to make sure they work
- Adhere to our ever-changing standards
- Communicate with other members of the HotelGuides team in a professional, upbeat, and friendly way
- Write well and have strong phone skills
- Work independently while being able to accept and follow instructions as needed
Essential Job Requirements:
- Must live in the Columbia area
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- This is critical: This is primarily a work-from-home position. You must have a dedicated home workspace that is free from all distractions, including spouses, roommates, parents, and children. (Pets are ok.) To work from home successfully, you need to be extremely disciplined and self-motivated. This job is not for everyone.
- Must have a Broadband or DSL Internet connection
- Must be willing to meet with supervisor for training purposes at least once a week (more in the beginning)
Additional Requirements:
- Possess strong writing, editing, and customer service skills (You may be asked to provide writing samples.)
- Be able to think logically and solve problems quickly and efficiently (You may be asked to solve a logic problem.)
- Be familiar with US geography...world geography a plus!
- Consistently process data with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail
- Be comfortable working online and via phone
- Be able to work comfortably with computers and various software applications, e.g., email, text editors, file transfer programs, spreadsheets, etc., and have ability to learn new applications on your own, quickly. Web page development skills are a plus.
- Must be able to follow directions, learn new tasks quickly, and work well with others (no drama!), as you will interact with hoteliers and other HotelGuides.com staff on a regular basis.
- Must be comfortable working online for long periods of time
Compensation:
Pay starts at $15 per hour.
