"A basic, no-frills hotel. The bed was a little hard for my taste, and there was no TV guide. Scant furniture in the room.2017-02-07"
"Close to NYU Hospital. Reasonable rates for NYC. The hotel was basic but clean and perfect for our stay. It reminded me of European budget properties in converted brownstones or townhouses. The room was small but comfortable and relatively quiet, and the staff was accommodating. Bathrooms were shared but clean and available when needed. 2016-12-23"
"Beautiful old hotel with a lot of charm. The room was too hot, and the beds were extremely hard, but those were our only complaints. We just cracked the window to cool off the room. There was a shared bathroom in the hallway, but it was clean all the time, so don't let that discourage you. Great place for the price.2016-03-10"

"Located on a tree-lined street near Union Square but away from the crowds. Close to restaurants, the subway, shops, and amenities. Not modern or sleek, but if you like the feel of a charming B&B with antiques and a private bath, you'll like this inn. Our stay was relaxing and quiet, and we enjoyed the Victorian style. The staff was gracious, accommodating, and welcoming. They went out of their way to help us with luggage, parking, and directions. Good breakfast and tea selection.2016-08-23"

"A wonderful hotel stay. The room was beautiful and had amazing views, and the beds were the most comfortable we've slept on. Nice staff. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. I absolutely recommend it.2016-04-17"

"The hotel room was tiny and didn't look clean. Stay elsewhere.2019-04-10"
"We had a pleasant stay. The room was surprisingly clean and had new carpeting, and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept on in a hotel. The pillows were great, too. I did hear some traffic noise, but I expected that. The bathroom was good-sized and clean, and the shower was nice and roomy. 2017-08-23"
"Horrible experience. I wasn't impressed at all. The hotel was dirty and noisy. Don't stay here.2016-09-21"
"Conveniently located. Typical mid-range hotel. It was nice, clean, and basic, but didn't lack anything. We were totally satisfied for the price we paid. If you want a comfortable place to sleep at night, this is a good choice.2016-04-19"

"Extensive renovations underway during my stay, and the noise during the day made it nearly impossible to relax - room was tiny and disappointing - TV was quite small - shower didn't work - staff moved us to another room, but insisted we pay an upgrade fee - elevator was shared with construction crews - not a happy stay.2013-09-01"

"Decent location and good value, but don't expect anything else. Things went missing from my room, but the hotel clerk shrugged off my concerns.2015-07-28"

"A lovely hotel with friendly personnel. We were upgraded to a deluxe king room on the 20th floor with an amazing view. The only issue was the music on weekends from the rooftop restaurant, which kept us awake until 2 AM. The staff did offer us a room on the 4th floor or earplugs, but we were already settled in. If you want a quiet night, ask for a room on a lower floor.2019-08-27"

"The room was tiny but nicely appointed. No microwave in the room, and there was no ice machine on my floor or in the lobby. The hotel clerk was nice and ran to the basement to get the items I needed. The bartender was friendly and provided recommendations about things to do.2017-03-02"

"A pleasant and well-run hotel. The room was a bit small, and there was nowhere to comfortably sit and read. Nice amenities such as bathrobes and turn-down service. Major problem with early morning construction noise from across the road. Good bar and greenhouse for relaxing or having a meal. Car service charged to the bill was a plus. I'd stay again.2015-05-30"

"The hotel was nicer than I expected, and it was close to NYU. I loved the neighborhood around Waverly Place. The room and bathroom were spacious for NYC, and both were impeccably clean. No fridge in the room, so be sure to request one if you need it. Check-in and checkout were efficient, and the staff was courteous and helpful throughout my stay. I can't wait to come back.2019-07-13"

How Do We Define Motel?
To us, motels are smaller lodgings that have rooms you can enter directly from the parking area.
At hotels, on the other hand, you can enter your room only through a hall inside the building.
