"The hotel was noisy at night, and I heard dogs barking. However, the room was extremely clean. No ocean views. The customer service was pretty lousy.2020-06-01"
"Not worth the price. I thought I reserved an ocean view room, but I got a view of the parking lot and a handicap room next to the exercise room. I don't recommend this hotel.2019-05-20"
"We arrived early, and the motel staff accommodated our request for a room on the 1st floor. They even called to make sure our room was satisfactory.2019-07-20"
"Beautiful, spacious room. The hotel clerks were helpful with restaurant suggestions, and changed our room so we could have a view. The happy hour was a nice surprise. We had a relaxing stay and plan to return.2016-01-11"
"The hotel room was clean. Quick check-in. Good breakfast. Ask for a room away from the freeway for more quiet.2015-07-09"
"A disgusting motel. There were broken beer bottles outside the room, and it smelled like marijuana every night. There were holes in the curtains, and the carpet was dirty. The mattress was old. Dirty shower with low water pressure. People hung out in the parking lot all night. Cheap rates, but you get what you pay for.2021-07-31"
"Located right off the freeway. The rates were competitive. The room walls had spots that could be washed off, and there was lots of dust around the AC. Limited towels provided. The employees were accommodating and friendly. Average breakfast, and the dining area was small.2019-11-04"
"The motel room and bed were clean. A problem with the sink plug was promptly fixed by a helpful, polite employee. Book it.2019-10-03"
"The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable, but the sofa bed wasn't. The hotel clerk wasn't that knowledgeable, and the bar was overwhelmed two nights of my stay and it was impossible to get served. Good breakfast, but the happy hour was the worst I've encountered at an Embassy Suites property.2018-03-20"
"I was pleasantly surprised. The suite was beautiful and had a wonderful view. I arrived at night and couldn't see out my hotel room window. I heard the sound of the ocean and woke to find I was right by the ocean.2018-03-12"
"The hotel was beautiful. Our 2-room ocean view suite was spacious and fantastic. The room, grounds, and common areas were clean, and the staff was nice. Good food, too. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.2015-11-14"
"Near the Navy base at Port Hueneme. Hotel was clean and well-kept inside and out. Room temperature was easy to control, and the room was comfortable and had a view of the harbor. The beds were clean and fresh. I'd definitely stay again.2015-05-01"
"The 1st room was musty and dank and had gnats. The 2nd room reeked of smoke and didn't have a table or chairs. There were no lightbulbs in the lamps. The AC knobs were broken and couldn't be turned off. The bed collapsed. The hallways were wet with stinky water from ACs and pipes. There was no manager on duty. Don't stay at this motel.2018-05-22"
"The carpet needed cleaning; it was so dirty it soiled my socks. Some fresh paint wouldn't hurt, either. Find another motel.2015-07-28"
"There was no dresser in the room to put our clothes in. The bathroom fixtures had rust. There was construction going on in the hallway. The business center had flooded, and there were towels on the floor and a heavy mildew odor. Overall, this hotel was a disappointment considering what we paid.2015-07-14"
"The hotel was in disarray while being remodeled. There was a long hair on my towel. Housekeeping didn't get to our room until 4 PM our 2nd day. The next morning, they knocked on the door at 9 AM.2015-06-22"
"Easy to access. The hotel room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. There seemed to be some construction underway in the hallways. A good experience overall.2015-06-08"
"The motel was older, but the room and linens were clean, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Bring your own drinking water.2020-06-20"
"Good location with great freeway access and plenty of restaurants nearby. Good rates. The Bathroom badly needed updating, but the rest of the room was great. No fridge as I expected, though.2019-08-06"
"The motel was fairly inexpensive. The beds were soft but comfortable. The cable TV service actually had a menu and guide, which was helpful. The carpet needed cleaning, and the bathroom needed caulking. The showerhead was too low, and there was little water pressure. Nice staff, heated pool, and whirlpool. Breakfast was free.2018-08-08"
"The motel was older but clean. The entrance was a bit confusing. The pool was small and out of service the 1st night, but it was open the 2nd nice as promised. Good breakfast, and the attendant was delightful. OK for a short stay.2016-07-18"
"The motel room was dirty and smelled bad. Find another place to stay.2016-06-11"
I loved that HotelGuides helped me find a hotel. You can try to search for one yourself, but this service was so helpful. Just click on the section of the Interstate you are driving on and you see a list of hotels that actually have rooms available.
To us, motels are smaller lodgings that have rooms you can enter directly from the parking area.
At hotels, on the other hand, you can enter your room only through a hall inside the building.
Hotel Booking Tips
Beware of non-refundable reservations that could cost you a lot of money if you change or cancel them. +Non-refundable reservations are a gamble that will usually save you less than $10. If you make a $90 non-refundable reservation instead of a $100 refundable booking, you are betting $90 to win $10. Would you do that in Las Vegas? -
Don't assume you can cancel a non-refundable reservation without penalty if you notify the hotel weeks or even months in advance. +Often you cannot because some hotels' profit strategy is to get paid more than once for the same room for the same night. -
Always read cancellation policies carefully before you make a reservation. + When is the latest date and time you can cancel without penalty? - More >
When you make a reservation, you will receive a confirmation email. Take a copy with you to the hotel.
The earlier in the afternoon you check into a hotel, the more likely you will get a room or suite that matches your preferences.
