The herbert hotel offers comfortable year-round lodging and early twentieth century charm accentuated by many period antiques. We are conveniently located at the entrance of the carrabassett valley which is a favorite vacation spot for people seeking outdoor recreation. During the summer / guests enjoy hiking the appalachian trail/ rafting/ white water canoeing/ camping and fishing. The herbert is also a favorite for nature photographers and artists. The autumn ushers in a scenic splendor as the leaves change colors and the foliage peaks. Additionally/ we are centrally located to several of the most plentiful hunting and game sites in new england. As autumn transitions into winter/ the carrabassett valley enters its peak season. The herbert is close to sugarloaf and saddleback mountains which provide excellent cross-country/ alpine and nordic skiing and the blackfly loop/ a system of snowmobile trails running throughout maine and into new hampshire.
