When you sit sideways on a cliff and look at the Pacific, the mountains, and the clear blue sky all at the same time, you truly understand why it's called Big. I've never experienced anything so big – and so entrancing.

While you're in Big Sur, eat lunch or at least have a drink at the Nepenthe restaurant. It overlooks the Pacific, and the views are mesmerizing.
